What is the turn around time like on submitting files to the designer's spotlight? Are they actually "judging" the files for inclusion in some sort of contest or are they doing more like the inspectors do and just making sure you aren't posting crap?
I added a few designs yesterday and today partly hoping to just let the photographers see how their files are being used. I know I appreciate seeing my files in the wild.

It can take anywhere from a day to a week. I don't know what the criteria are, just know that I've never had a design rejected. They seem to push through most of the designs between friday and sunday. So, designs submitted earlier in the week tend to take longer in the queue. Again, this is all just based on my personal experience and observations. |

Isn't it a hassle to get permission from the client to present your design? |

Not if you put it in the contract that you can use the designs for self promotion. |

If they were rejected on grounds of quality criteria there wouldn't be many designs left. LOL! |

// Posted By justelaine: Isn't it a hassle to get permission from the client to present your design? I've never had a client object. Most times they're thrilled to get the additional exposure. Sometimes I've been asked to wait until whatever it is goes "live".... but never been asked NOT to include a design in my portfolio (either here on on my personal website). |

I'm curious... I guess the same rules don't apply to "Designer" spotlight as is with "stock" photos or illustrations?? i.e. Like the use of "copyrighted" "distinctive" (Trajan I believe) typefaces in the present Design of the Week. |

No, copyright restrictions don't apply to designs. They're a showcase of work, not work for sale. Now if we were selling our designs as templates, that would be a different story. |

As far as i know, copyright restrictions dont apply to fonts like they apply to other media (due to the sheer number of them i believe). I'm not entirely sure on this though - just remember reading something like that a few months ago. Also what bkbdesign wrote seems logical too. |
