Well, I do have to apologize for any statements that I may have made regarding how bad my work was and how unworthy I was to even submit my work for consideration for the BR. As it turns out, I wasn't even eligible. Stupid state of Florida. I have submitted a request to customer support to provide which statute this decision was based on so that I might take it up with my state politicians. I mean come on, we have dog tracks, horse tracks, Jai Lai, Native American casinos, and even the lottery. And I am ineligible for a skills based art competition? Is that a gateway for mob activity? Was Louie or Vinnie going to strong arm some portion of the competition for a "piece of the action"?

Oh well. I hope I get the answer from Customer Support soon so that I can switch over to political mode. Maybe I can make it onto the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Wouldn't that be a hoot (and 5 minutes of fame).

gswd I'm so glad you posted. My sentiments regarding my own submission were similar to yours and guess what I'm also a resident of the sunshine state. It wasn't very clear in the rules...I recall seeing something about some territories not being accepted and in parenthesis "except the State of Florida" to me I thought this meant we could participate. Post if you find new info! Oh the agony for nothing!!!!

Advocate I'm up for a battle if you don't mind that I reside in Florida!!!! I'd still like to flex my PS muscle!!! Let me know

From the "Eligibility" section of the official rules (now viewable from a link on the top 32 page):

'and are legal residents of the United States (excluding Rhode Island, New York and Florida)'

Yep, there it is. We of the dangling chad were not even eligible to compete. I admit that I did not read the rules before posting, because I never imagined I would be excluded.

I have a question about source images. Do they all have to be current istock images? Can I also use images (of my own) that have never been uploaded to istock?

merci senor!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHHHHH! I WANT TO PLAY!!!!

And am I correct that the second round is started by the player who didn't throw the first blow in the initial round?

Forgive my ignorance, new at this...

(edited to add mild temper tantrum and ask second question.)

I have a question! While I'm aware that we can use iStock images as well as our own, I would like to know whether we can use stock images from other royalty free sources as well? Thanks!

cglade: im not sure what you mean... so i assume that by second round you mean the second battle in the tournament, ie when only 16 players are left. well i am pretty sure that this will be like the first round/battle - someone (don't know which one) will have to post a challenge, etc. if by second round you mean the second round in your current battle (which has 2 rounds, ie each player posts two images), then... well. in each image you have to build upon the opponent's previous image. you know - tennis-like.

zlisjak - if you have properly bought/licensed the image i am pretty sure you can use anything you like (i am also quite sure this applies for public-domain imagery).

thanks demon - I thought maybe the second round of blows in a battle might start with a new image provided by the other (non first-blow player) but now I see that was a hallucinatory thought. What you say makes sense - regular cage battling back and forth. Thanks

That could also explain why I didn't make it, though as far as I can read it doesn't mention that Europeans are ineligible to participate.

C,
You could start working on your next battle image now and blow us all away with it in your next start. Just make sure you click to throw the first blow.
